Q1 2014 Update

The Tallys Team at NWSP is preparing for our first release of 2014. This update includes improvements and patches that users on maintenance can benefit from straight away. Use of Tallys is varied from one yard to another and our Q1 2014 release includes something new for everyone.new-years

 

 

What to expect?

 

  • Enriched reporting of rack and historical data at Alberta Tubular Products’ stocking points running Tallys.

*This means that ATP will no longer depend upon yard staff to send current stock, historical or transaction reports.

  • Owner name and invoice# have been added to the revenue by truck report.
  • Ability to add loader operator’s name to an inbound Tally by clicking ‘F7’ and selecting from a list

 

Bugs Patched:

 

  • Shipment context inaccuracies for duplicate shipment printouts. (ie: Delivery, Credit, Received)
  • It is now possible to add multiple shipments to a dispatch with one selection.
  • Increased character allowance on in the ‘Via’ field on a Tally to accommodate unit number.
  • Repaired window layering issue for available racks during a transfer tally.
  • Missing driver name on printed BOLs
  • ‘Print Current Selection’ now checked by default for Monthly Cards and Rack reports.

 

Coming later this quarter:

 

  • New serial entry method allowing fill down of serial prefix, followed by standard entry of unique characters.

*note: legacy functionality and fill down with counter will be retained

Whats new?Time to Upgrade

 

• Enhanced Release Selection

The release selection window that appears when ‘F12’ is clicked from within Tally entry will now show LSDs or location codes associated with listed releases. Also, this list will now omit completed releases.

 

• Improvements to the Deletion Log

The deletion log detail screen will now show the reason for which a given record was deleted.

 

• New Copy Count Setting

We have added a new preference to store number of tally copies to be printed.
Preference #906 is where this can be set.

 

• Tally PO Correction

It will now be possible to adjust the PO number on a posted tally by means of a correction. Tally correction is available from the ‘Tally’ menu displayed when viewing a tally’s detail screen.

 

• Updated Dispatch Header

We have added POs and AFEs to the printed dispatch header.

 

• Improved Tally Out Display

Serial numbers tied to joints on a tally out will now be displayed on screen.

 

• Add Engineer to Tally Out

It will now be possible to add an Engineer’s name and Phone number to the comments on an outbound Tally.

‘F7’ will bring up your list of engineers for selection

Q4 2013 Tallys Update Announced

Northwestern Support Professionals Inc. are pleased to announce that research and development is underway for our next quarterly update for Tallys 512.   Our release date target is October 1, 2013 and this will be the final Tallys update for our fiscal year.

 

Tallys Q4 Update Announced

 

We are actively collecting reports of bugs and issues to add to our project development plan. If you have any issues that have not been reported to our technical support team, we ask that you please do so at your convenience by opening a trouble ticket on our support portal.   Once we have confirmed your report, we will add the item to our queue and you will be notified when we have corrected the issue.

 

 

One confirmed feature that we will be looking at is a way to improve the automatic update routine to account for user preferences, passwords and credentials.  This will allow us to deploy the quarterly updates to you quickly and much more efficiently, thanks to the robust program automation that Tallys is built upon.

 

Over half of the fixes and updates we produce come directly from end users in the field like yourself, and we sincerely appreciate your assistance and partnership as Tallys continues to develop and grow.  Are there any metrics missing from your favorite Tallys reports?   Are there any repetitive tasks that we can assist in simplifying?   Are there other software programs that you would like to be compatible with Tallys?   Do you have an idea for a future feature for Tallys 512?  Contact us or leave us a comment below and we will get in touch with you.

Q3 2013 Tallys Update Available

NWSP is pleased to announce that the roll out of our Q3 2013 Tallys release will begin on July 2, 2013. Contact NWSP today to schedule your implementation of the Q3 2013 update at support@tallys.ca.

This release has a focus on the refinement of our existing functionality, as well as many minor issues that were identified (many from customers like you) and corrected.

Whats new?

 

• Tenaris PO lockdown for Racks and Tallies

Tenaris and Prudential ownership records may now be marked as ‘Tenaris’ from the Owner Detail Screen. Once marked and saved, this activates a brand new function for locking down Owner PO’s on Tenaris Racks. It also preventing users from adjusting ‘Customer P/O’s’ which were auto-populated to Tallies, from inbound and outbound transactions to all Tenaris and Prudential racks.

If your database contains a Tenaris or Prudential owner record, it will be required that each be opened and marked as ‘Tenaris’ in the owner detail screen ‘Mark’ dropdown.

 

Note: Be sure to save your owner record after completing this change.

• Automated PDF reporting implemented at Alberta Tubular Products’ Calgary office

Daily Shipments and Tallies posted by ATP stocking points using Tallys 5.12 will be saved as PDFs and placed in yard specific folders.
*Once your Tallys is updated, there is no longer any need to email or fax your daily ATP movements.

 

 

• New logo introduced mid-Q2 

Half way through the second quarter of this year, the Tallys logo was revamped for a fresh new look. The old ‘cigarette carton’ pipe logo has been replaced with a stylized ‘T’ for a more contemporary appeal.

• New Website Launch in July

NWSP is launching a new Tallys home page in line with this quarter’s software update, to compliment our new Branding. The new page will also be an excellent resource for existing Tallys users as well as organizations considering our solution.

Q2 2013 Tallys Update Available

NWSP is pleased to announce that the roll out of our Q2 2013 release began this week! This is a brand new quarterly update to Tallys 5.12 and have some helpful and handy new Tallys tricks to introduce.   Contact NWSP today to schedule your implementation of the Q2 2013 update at support@tallys.ca.

Here is a brief summary of the update, available now.

Enhanced Release Detail Screen

  • Store new Definitions (Release Detail Screen)  – We’ve added additional material description fields to accommodate entry of Surface, Intermediate, and Production String Requirements.
  • OC# field (Release Detail Screen) –  Now contains a  field to store an Order Confirmation number (OC#).
  • Date Completed (Release Detail Screen) – When a Release is complete and the inventory requested has been tallied out, a new ‘Completed’ check box at the top of the Release Detail screen can be checked, and completing the release will automatically date stamp the current date. Releases can be sorted based on completion from the Releases List screen.
  • Auto population of location (LSD) on Tallies and Dispatches – If you’ve added a Release to the database which includes an LSD or location indicator, then adding that Release # to a Tally or a Dispatch will auto-populate the LSD and description to your form. Additionally, if a Tally with a release number tied to it is added to a dispatch, it’s LSD and directions will auto-populate to the Dispatch form.

New Feature – Auto-populate Dispatch Release # to Tallies tied to a Dispatch.

  • If a dispatch has been started and includes a Release #, the program will populate that Release # and it’s corresponding LSD to any tallies added.

New ATP Data Entry Standards

  • Alberta Tubular Products (http://www.albertatubular.com/) is now maintaining a remotely accessible database of their acceptable OCTG definitions, which can be imported to a stocking point’s TALLYS database. This will ensure that only descriptions accepted by ATP can be called when building an ATP rack. With these new standards enabled, TALLYS will also ensure that all transaction specific fields important to ATP are populated prior to posting a movement.

Enhanced Functionality for Tenaris Stocking Points

  • Owner P.O. Field on Rack Detail – If your facility is a stocking point for Tenaris tubular goods, it is now mandatory that all of your Tenaris racks have an ‘Owner P.O.’  entered (to be provided by Tenaris). The Owner P.O.# will be automatically added to any Tally posted to or from the Rack going forward, and will in turn be viewable on Rack List Report, Stock Cards Reports and Movement Reports.

Enhanced Tier Detail Report

  • This issue was brought forward by our customers: Some owners would like their storage facilities to store location indicators or LSDs on an individual joint basis when pipe is being tallied onto a rack, which helps them to keep a record of where the inventory originated from. Tallys now allowing 20 characters to be entered and printed on Tier Detail reports accommodates these customers.

          Please keep in mind : the ‘Heat#’ header can be changed on a per owner basis.

Enhanced ‘Stock Card’ reference column in the ‘Rack Export’

  • When Rack Detail is exported to a spreadsheet from the racks list menu (a .txt file best viewed in Excel), the resulting export now includes a column to store Stock Card numbers.

Enhanced character allowance for  ‘owner part #’.

  • We have added additional space to the ‘owner part #’ field on the Equipment Detail screen so that it can accept up to 12 alphanumeric characters.

Enhanced ‘Ship Items’ maximum quantity.

  • The ‘Ship Items’ count on an in or outbound Shipment will now accept a part quantity up to 5 digits in length (max of 99999 parts).

Q1 2013 Tallys Update Available

We’re preparing for another Tallys update and have some exciting new functionality to talk about! Rollout of our Q1 2013 release is scheduled to begin on January 2nd.

Here’s a peek at the list of enhancements we’re introducing in 2013.

NEW Racks list report sort options.

We’ve added two new sort related features specific to the racks list report. First, a new radio button within the existing sort dialogue allowing a sort by Stock Card ID. The second feature is found in Preference 1030 and allows a default sort order to be set.

For Example:

  • Owner, Category, Size
  • Owner, Size, Weight
  • Owner, Size, Range, Weight
  • By Stock Card ID
  • Current Order
  • Custom Order

NEW Payed indicator for completed invoices.

This feature will help accounting staff to keep track of outstanding receivables.

 

NEW Social Media and support links on the Web Module sign in screen.

When logging into a stocking facility’s web interface, customers will be provided with a direct link to TALLYS’ support site, their Facebook, and their Twitter page where they can ask a support question or provide feedback about their experience. TALLYS Helpdesk

 

NEW Chat Feature.

Records referenced in a chat conversation will be linked for ease of intra-office communication about inventory and other TALLYS data.

 

NEW Equipment Scan

This new option available from the ‘Tools’ menu will scan your last 90 days worth of shipping data and output a .txt document which will identify any shipping errors that exist in your equipment table. The scan also has the ability to repair any discovered miscalculations following an automated database backup.

NEW Metric/Imperial conversion for pipe definitions.

We’ve added a conversion tool that converts user entered metric measurements to Imperial, and vise versa.
