Last week Schlumberger published a press release to announce their new Imaging-while-drilling service, MicroScope HD.

MicroScope HD’s vertical resolution of 0.4 in enables operators to see fine features of the downhole environment. The new logging-while-drilling (LWD) tool will provide well operators with enhanced reservoir description, including structural analysis, sedimentology, and fracture characterization. This additional data facilitates optimized well completion design, improved drill string trajectory, drilling risk prevention, and reduction of stuck pipe and costly downtime.

The MicroScope HD service has already been field tested extensively in over 45 wells throughout the Middle East, Europe, Africa and North America.
