Marathon Oil holds over 330,000 net acres in the Eagle Ford region. To add to that, there has been recent news of a portfolio overhaul including the sale of assets in southwest Africa. This will free up capital for further investment in Marathon’s eagle ford play. As of Q2 of this year, the company’s daily production from the Eagle Ford shale was up to 80,000 barrels, an 11% increase from the 72,000 barrel output measured at the beginning of 2013.
